GreenCentre Canada Receives Government of Canada Funding for the Advance-ON Program

KINGSTON, ON (July 21, 2022) – GreenCentre Canada is proud to announce it has received over $2.5 million in funding from the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), to launch the Advance-ON program. This two-year program will accelerate southern Ontario-based cleantech companies to become successful, sustainable, growing businesses.

Through the Advance-ON program, GreenCentre will support entrepreneurs developing sustainable chemical and advanced materials technologies in areas, including energy and fuels, resource recovery, water treatment and consumer products from renewable sources. The successful applicants to this competitive program will receive a customized technical project delivered by GreenCentre’s team of scientists at no cost to them.

With the support of FedDev Ontario, Advance-ON will focus GreenCentre’s resources on developing the technologies of these early-stage cleantech companies. This critical work will drive their innovations to market faster – unlocking private sector investment, creating high-quality jobs, and helping to meet the Government of Canada’s climate targets.

“Today’s investment for GreenCentre Canada’s Advance-ON program represents the Government of Canada’s hands on commitment to supporting entrepreneurs while building towards a cleaner, green future and an inclusive recovery for all. This project will support 650 jobs and help up to 30 SMEs in southern Ontario to scale-up their business, commercialize products and improve resilience, strengthening Canada’s green economy for years to come, ” says the Honourable Helena Jaczek, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

“GreenCentre Canada is committed to helping high-potential companies develop and make significant contributions to the Canadian economy,” said Andrew Pasternak, Executive Director. “Our organization is uniquely positioned to deploy its resources, network of relationships, and expertise to help these companies de-risk and eventually scale up their innovative technologies. The objective of our Advance-ON program is to accelerate the commercialization of clean technologies in southern Ontario so they can rapidly benefit both the environment and economy.”
